The Climate Group is seeking an experienced Senior Systems & Project Accountant to help manage the Global Project and Finance Systems and business partnering with project stakeholders. This role will be based in our Head Office in London and will report to the International Finance Director. About You

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, will be team-oriented and have experience working cross-culturally at all levels. You will have extensive accounting and financial management experience, particularly from NGO and commercial environments, to enable you to work independently and provide support with system implementation and management reporting. In addition, knowledge and experience of Chinese accounting, taxation and reporting regulations are highly desirable as this role will include support of the operations in China, which would include adaptation and design of processes and procedures to implement the new business system.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines 
  • High proficiency in Excel and data management
  • Strong accounting system coding and back end data management experience with SalesForce and FinancialForce 
  • Extensive knowledge of financial/ budgeting systems and reporting tools e.g.: Business Objects, SAP Business One, or similar systems/tools
  • Demonstrable project accounting and reporting skills
  • Demonstrable skills of successful and collaborative business partnering with programmatic teams
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of working closely with senior management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Fluent English 
  • Fluent Mandarin, including business, tax and accounting language is highly desirable
  • Experience of working with a project based Charity and have proven knowledge and experience of funding reporting requirements
  • Willingness to travel to Asia, mainly China to assist with local operations on an ad-hoc basis


Desirable 

  • Proven experience in local Chinese Accounting, Tax and Reporting requirements
  • Interest in climate action and environment
  • Knowledge of the climate change market.
  • Charity Accounting and working within NGO Sector
  • Global Accounting Standards.
  • Previous systems implementation exposure would be highly advantageous


Main Accountabilities

The Senior Systems & Project Accountant will report to the International Finance Director and main responsibilities will include but will not be limited to the following tasks:

  • Working closely with the International Finance Director to ensure that global projects are managed correctly both within and outside the system from a financial, time and KPI position.
  • Business partnering with the project managers and fundraising team to ensure that the Projects correctly reflect baselines and agreed budgets, and manage change requests for approval.
  • Working closely with the China Director to provide support and oversight of our accounting and taxation in our China Operations and provide ad hoc support as needed to ensure governance and fiduciary controls are in place and related deadlines are met.
  • Provide as required support to Finance Manager processing accounts payable and receivables, reconciliations, month end processing and cost allocations.
  • Working with the Global IT Manager to ensure that SalesForce and FinancialForce systems are adequately monitored, tested, updated and maintained.  In addition to provide training materials and direct training to staff as required.
  • Build reports and data analytics from SalesForce and FinancialForce to provide information request by Executive Teams and Project Managers.
  • Fund accounting and reporting.
  • Other ad hoc work as required 


Location

You will be based in our London head office, in County Hall, which is a five-minute walk from Waterloo station. 

 

Terms and conditions

This is full-time permanent position. We offer a salary of £40,000 - £46,000 per annum based on experience, plus the following benefits:
