Senior Impact Officer, Energy, London

Summary 

Now in its eighth year, RE100 is successfully driving policy change in markets around the world. Climate Group is now seeking a talented individual to help us to expand this work, as part of our rapidly growing RE100 Impact team.   

Focusing on convening our Members and partners for policy engagement and communications in target markets which include Japan, Korea, South Africa and India, the Senior Impact Officer will support the team and our members in achieving objectives including: 

  • demonstrating how our work is helping to shift national debates and policy frameworks around business access to renewables, thereby enabling our members to progress towards their 100% renewable electricity goals 
  • capturing learnings and evidence of successes drawn from RE100’s in-country work to increase awareness of the market-led renewable electricity transition

About the role 

The campaign 

RE100 is a global initiative bringing together the world’s most influential businesses committed to 100% renewable power. Led by international non-profit Climate Group in partnership with CDP, the group have a total revenue of over US$6.6 trillion and operate in a diverse range of sectors. Together, they send a powerful signal to policymakers and investors to accelerate the transition to a clean economy. 

The vison of the campaign is to accelerate change towards zero carbon electricity grids globally by 2040. The focus of the campaign is to mobilise corporations to influence policy makers in order to address policy and market barriers to enable corporate buyers to source 100% renewable electricity. 

The role 

Focusing on convening our corporate members and local NGO partners for policy engagement and communications in target markets which include Japan, Korea, South Africa and India, the postholder will support the team and our members in achieving objectives including:  

  • Demonstrating how our work is helping to shift national debates and policy frameworks around business access to renewables, thereby enabling our members to progress towards their 100% renewable electricity goals 
  • Capturing learnings and evidence of successes drawn from RE100’s in-country work to increase awareness of the market-led renewable electricity transition  


The Senior Impact Officer will report to the RE100 Senior Impact Manager and will work with a wide range of stakeholders internally and externally, including the RE100 team, regional office teams, the Memberships team, the technical team at CDP, and RE100 Corporate Members and International Partners. 

Project management  

  • Support development and delivery of impactful advocacy activities, in partnership with local teams, partner organisations, energy stakeholders, and RE100 member companies  
  • Coordinate relationships with partner organisations responsible for delivery of international RE100 Hubs   
  • Liaise with colleagues across different departments to ensure project briefs are developed with clear objectives, scope, desired outcomes and deliverables  
  • Participate in up to six international policy working groups, including arranging meetings, taking minutes, managing agendas and deliverables 
  • Track policy engagement and report against impact indicators  

Communications and events  
  • Stakeholder communications - develop and disseminate market and policy related material via member newsletters, update webinars, RE100 website and through NGO networks  
  • Work with Climate Group’s Communications team to communicate our impact locally and globally 
  • Identify interesting stories and market trends to expand RE100 reach and influence 
  • Work with local partners and other teams to plan, organise and develop content for a range of events including policy workshops, roundtables, and panel discussions including for Climate Week NYC, COP and other global conferences and events  

Knowledge management  
  • Develop resources and materials for use in member recruitment, engagement, wider communications and fundraising activities  
  • Develop and manage databases of information on impact and policy activities

About you 

Essential

  • Knowledge and experience of renewable electricity markets, ideally in a policy, public affairs and/or communications capacity  
  • Commitment to the mission of Climate Group and RE100 
  • Experience supporting impactful projects or campaigns 
  • Strong organisational skills, with attention to detail and ability to multi-task 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across a range of cultural contexts 
  • Proactive and able to work independently to deliver tasks and achieve project objectives 
  • Team player with the ability to identify where support is needed and comfortable delivering an administrative workload alongside more strategic activity   

Desirable
  • Qualification or direct experience in public affairs, energy, economics, international relations or related   
  • ​Experience organising events that convene a range of stakeholders 
  • Experience working in or in partnership with the private sector and ideally with senior/board level personnel 
  • Experience working in emerging markets 
  • Strong research and writing skills and ability to analyse complex policy and business content 
  • Appreciation of commercial and financial drivers for businesses and NGOs  


Location 

You will be based in our London head office. We’re operating on a flexible and hybrid way of working in our new office based in Tower Hill (SE1 2NQ), 3 days in the office and 2 days working from home. Occasional international travel will be required. 


What we offer

This is a permanent, full-time position. The salary for this position is £32,000 - £35,200 per annum.
