India Operations and Finance Manager


The Climate Group is looking for an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic Operations and Finance Manager. The successful candidate will work closely with the India Director, International Finance Director and Senior Finance Manager, to lead operations, finance and compliance of The Climate Group UK’s Indian subsidiary – TCCO India Projects Pvt. Ltd. The role is India-specific but will work as part of a global operations team. More specifically, the person will: 

  • Lead all financial matters for TCCO India, including budget development, planning and reporting; managing the accounts, payroll and financial reporting of project funded activities, sponsorships and other service contracts, ensuring that head office receives all necessary transactions and reports 
  • Lead on all operational matters, including governance, compliance, managing HR requirements and overseeing activities to ensure sound and cost-effective management 

The post holder will have direct line management responsibility for Office Assistant and dotted reporting line for Operations and Compliance Officer.

About the role

The postholder will have following specific responsibilties (TCCO India): 

Operations and Financial Management  

  • Lead annual budgeting and planning process with the India Director and in close co-ordination with UK Head Office 
  • Be responsible for documenting and maintaining accounting policies and procedures to comply with global policies. 
  • Manage local governance, cash flow management and liquidity 
  • Lead the production of monthly and quarterly assessments and forecasts of financial performance against budget and cash flow, financial and operational goals  
  • Develop, maintain and monitor all fundraising and accounting systems and procedures capturing all projects, billings and receipts and for the recording of all revenue transactions, in sync with The Climate Group’s global systems 
  • Manage day-to-day financial transactions and posting of entries into Tally/FinancialForce for staff including petty cash processing, managing daily cash balances and bank statements 
  • Analyse financial information on Tally/Salesforce/PSA/FFA related to actual spend, accounting records, invoices for payments and credit card reconciliations etc.  
  • Prepare draft audit accounts and be a liaison with the externally appointed auditor  
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly management accounts for the local organisation including reports to the Global CEO, COO, India Director and International Finance Director 
  • Oversee day-to-day processing of accounts, reconcile monthly activity, generating year-end reports, and fulfil tax related requirements (TDS, GST etc.) 
  • Analysis of spend between Restricted and Unrestricted Spend 
  • Review timesheets and assist with staff cost allocations to projects 
  • Manage month-end and year-end closure procedures and report this into the UK Finance team 
  • Provide financial management of all project-funded activities and programmes, as per the stipulations under respective contracts 
  • Work with the program teams on budgetary elements of funding applications and bids  
  • Manage payroll, pension scheme, employee benefits and organisational insurance  
  • Take lead responsibility and accountability for India HR policy and strategy, advice and support, employment law and policy, terms and conditions, and remuneration.  


Governance & Compliance 

  • Work with the India Director and International Finance Director and be accountable for the financial management of TCCO India, including financial strategy, operational financial management, applicable taxes, compliance with Indian tax laws and ensuring tight compliance to protect TCG UK trustees and the Board of Directors in India 
  • Work closely with the Company Secretary and be accountable for all statutory returns: Income tax, GST, ROC reporting (annual return), formalities for TCCO India’s Board of Directors etc. 
  • Serve as primary liaison between The Climate Group UK and India legal counsel in addressing legal issues within contracts e.g. labor laws, intellectual property, governing instruments, partnerships, licensing etc. 
  • Contribute to the review and update of the Risk Register  
  • Maintain and review all office policies and procedures, including health and safety, finance and environmental and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation in India 
  • Document and maintain accounting processes and controls for India in direct liaison with the UK for global compliance 


About You 


  • A professional accountancy qualification or equivalent experience  
  • A strategic approach to financial management, with sufficient analytical skills to take the lead in financial strategy, budgeting, variance analysis and continual improvement in The Climate Group India’s financial management  
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and at least intermediate MS Word and Powerpoint 
  • Experience of producing financial consolidation and relevant local statutory accounts 
  • Strong practical capabilities and knowledge of book-keeping and wider general accounting and taxation technicalities 
  • Demonstrable experience in operating Tally, Microsoft Office and ideally Salesforce 
  • Specialist knowledge of Indian company and non-profit law and finance issues such as TDS, GST, Transfer Pricing, annual compliance and risk management      
  • Experience of working in an international organisation with knowledge of contract management, corporate governance, local taxation and general financial management  
  • Understanding of, and a commitment to, the mission of The Climate Group 
  • Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to non-finance colleagues  
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English 



  • Experienced Chartered Accountant/ Company Secretary 
  • Experience with IT systems and basic troubleshooting with software and hardware 
  • Strong experience with FinancialForce or similar software 



You will be based in the New Delhi office of The Climate Group’s subsidiary – TCCO India Projects Pvt. Ltd.
