Management Reporting Accountant

About the Role

We have an exciting immediate opportunity for a Management Reporting Accountant to join our small accounting team in our London HQ. This role will report to the Senior Finance Manager.

The successful candidate will be responsible for global reconciliation of transactions in our Project and Accounting software (Financial Force) as well as supporting the Senior Finance Manager in timely production of the global monthly management accounts. This role will be focused on continuous reviewing and monitoring of finance policies, procedures and reporting.

The role requires a methodical, the timely and organised approach to completing tasks to facilitate decision making and the efficient running of the organisation and its projects.

About You

We’re looking for someone with strong accounting, systems and excel skills, time management, attention to detail and business partnering skills.  You will also be able to work on your own initiative, have an inquisitive learning approach, with a friendly, approachable manner and the ability to process data accurately to deadlines.

This role is a fantastic opportunity to join an international climate NGO. The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working in an NGO finance team and will also have strong written and verbal communication skills, willing to take a pragmatic and as needed approach to the role, as the organisation continues to grow and evolve.

You will be able to demonstrate proven capabilities in the following areas:

Essential 

  • Qualified or Part Qualified via (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CIPFA) or equivalent
  • Experience of assisting in the preparation of year end statutory accounts using Charities SORP FRS102 and supporting Audit Schedules
  • Current experience working with FinancialForce (or similar e.g. SAP / Oracle) from posting journals to month end reconciliations and reporting
  • Involvement in preparing month end management accounts, variance analysis and reports
  • Working in a multicurrency environment
  • Committed team player, able to work to changing priorities in a small team
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills, with an ability to work with global teams.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills and at least intermediate MS Word and Powerpoint
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills 
  • Business Partnering experience with department and project teams 
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to non-finance colleagues
  • An identification with our mission and values

 

Desirable      

  • Degree in commerce/finance or any relevant field
  • 5 years of experience in Non Profit / Charity Accounting, preferably working in SME with international presence
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, growth-oriented organization
  • Experience in implementing systems and processes 
  • Effective data presentation and communication skills
  • Local GAAP Knowledge for USA and/or India

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Supporting the Senior Finance Manager to prepare Country and Consolidated management accounts
  • Preparation and posting of journals, such as accruals, prepayments, deferred income journals, staff  allocation and intercompany
  • Working closely with the designated areas to ensure that all income and costs are captured and reported accurately, providing variance analysis for actuals verses budget / forecast 
  • Support the forecasting and budgetary process in terms of collecting, recording and processing relevant data to ensure project/department cost budgets and resource requirements are up to date in the project system, and assisting with the global consolidation Excel model 
  • Monthly project reporting / reconciliation and meeting with project managers
  • Maintain Project and Grant Income Recognition
  • Work with all country offices, including UK to ensure timely flows of data
  • Manage assigned Balance Sheet accounts, reconciliations, postings and month end procedures
  • Process payroll transactions in the General ledger and reconcile to payroll reports
  • Assist with the Quarterly VAT computation and draft return
  • Assist in year end audit schedules and supporting calculations for statutory accounts
  • Assisting with continuous improvement in our policies, procedures, systems and reporting
  • Assist with project donor reporting on both restricted and unrestricted funding
  • Other duties as required of the role

Support when needed across the team:

  • Forecasting cash payments and receipts for cash flow workings
  • Assisting with petty cash processing, managing daily cash balances and bank statements
  • Administration and analysis on SalesForce
  • Processing purchase orders and accounts payable invoices for payment 
  • Co-ordinate invoice matching, accurate coding and posting
  • Credit cards reconciliations via salesforce
  • Expense claims processing
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable
  • Tracking of project revenue and costs

 

Location

You will be based in our London head office, in County Hall, which is a five-minute walk from Waterloo station. Applicants must already have the right to work in the UK. 

 

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time, permanent position. We offer a starting salary of £33,000 per annum or more based on experience. In addition to the salary, the role holder will benefit from:
