Senior Transparency Coordinator

About the role 

The Climate Group is looking for a talented and ambitious knowledge management professional with substantial relevant experience to join its dynamic team in London as Senior Transparency Coordinator. You will have the opportunity to play a critical role in driving ambitious climate action by engaging with relevant stakeholders across government, business and civil society as well as projects related to pathway planning, transparency, and policy innovation. 

Climate action by states, regions, cities, business and investors has increased substantially since the adoption of the Paris Agreement. Tracking progress towards climate commitments and targets is essential for the credibility of these actors. The Climate Group supports a collaborative effort amongst 30+ organizations to assess and communicate the impact of such climate action. You will support the Head of Climate Transparency and Pathways to deliver on this project. 

Additionally, you will work with various members of The Climate Group’s Under2 Coalition team to implement the knowledge management strategy of three large capacity building projects ensuring replication of learnings across the states and regions in the Under2 Coalition.

Deep decarbonization pathway planning: supporting governments to develop robust medium and long-term (2050) emissions reduction plans in line with the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement.

Scaling innovative policy solutions: spreading today’s best climate policies and developing new policies to ensure full decarbonization.

Transparency 

Mainstreaming transparency: supporting governments so they have the expertise and systems in place to assess their emissions accurately, track progress and ensure policies remain fit for delivering against climate targets.

About You

This role will be ideal for someone combining strong communications skills with an analytical mind, as well as a desire to learn more about sub-national governments’ climate action. You would have gained substantial experience from similar role, ideally in an international environment working cross culturally with variety of corporate stakeholders. You will  be highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision. You can plan and prioritise your own workload and have an eye for detail.

Essential:

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Demonstrable experience to produce case studies, news letters, draft appealing presentations and chair global conference calls.

  • Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to process and communicate complex information to diverse audiences through simple messages. 

  • Strong data management skills through Microsoft Excel and an understanding of how to interpret quantitative and qualitative data.

  • Strong research skills, ability to gather and analyze material in a structured way and present findings in a concise manner.

  • Demonstrable experience to work both independently as well as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills with a methodical approach to working towards deadlines.


Desirable:

  • Work experience related to climate policy, climate data science, carbon disclosure, GHG accounting and inventories.
  • Fluent in French, Spanish and/or Portuguese.
  • Experience with CRM systems and HTML newsletters. 


Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the delivery of a dedicated project around harmonizing and tracking climate action from states, regions, cities, businesses and investors. This will involve intense coordination with other lead organizations through bilateral calls and producing newsletters. 
  • Work with senior colleagues to drive and coordinate the development of the Under2 Coalition Secretariat’s strategy to knowledge management.
  • Support Project Managers in implementing knowledge management strategies across large capacity building projects. 
  • Utilize disclosed governmental data to identify policy trends, emissions savings potential, and communicate the impact to a wide audience, including partner organizations. 
  • Contribute with own analysis and insights on the data disclosed supported by secondary research.
  • Match target regions (i.e. regions that receive capacity building support) with other jurisdictions in the Under2 Coalition that have similar needs and could benefit from knowledge sharing.  
  • Support the organization and delivery of peer to peer webinars. 
  • Conduct research on climate data of state and regional governments. 
  • Draft newsletters, emails and minutes of coordination calls. 
  • Schedule meetings, calls and webinars. 
  • Undertake other relevant ad-hoc projects related to data analysis and policy research. 


Location

You will be based in our London head office, in County Hall, which is a five-minute walk from Waterloo station.

 

Terms and conditions

This is a fixed term full time contract for up to 12 months. We offer a starting salary of £28,000 per annum or more based on experience and the following benefits:
