Fundraising Engagement Manager

We are expanding our fundraising team and looking for an experienced professional with a background in high-value fundraising.


This role will work within the UK Fundraising team to help increase The Climate Group’s impact in accelerating climate action by project-managing engagement and outreach activities to support income generation and the high-quality stewardship of donors, sponsors and other key stakeholders – including corporates, high-net-worth individuals, foundations, and governments.

About the role


The post-holder will work across the organization to develop and deliver an inspiring program of tailored cultivation and stewardship activities that support the fundraising objectives of The Climate Group’s business development and philanthropy teams. In particular, this role will be an important point person for fundraising in its work with The Climate Group’s communications team. You will be well organized and flexible in your work, and possess close attention to detail. The role requires an outcome-orientated self-starter, able to propose and deliver high quality work whilst also willing to do what it takes to ensure key projects are achieved. 


In turn, the new Fundraising Engagement Manager will join a fast-evolving organization whose power comes from our ability to build global networks which are focused around ambitious climate goals, and has always put first-class stakeholder engagement at the heart of what it does. The post-holder will lead on ensuring that The Climate Group’s core strengths are leveraged to deliver sector-leading engagement for sponsors, donors and prospects which supports the future income growth and business development opportunities across the organization. 


You will report to The Climate Group’s Head of Sponsorship & Business Development and the role will include but not be limited to:


Fundraising Engagement – planning and implementing engagement and stewardship activities that increase The Climate Group’s ability to attract, engage and retain sponsors and high-value supporters on a global basis. The post-holder will have the ability and gravitas to build strong relationships with a diverse range of external stakeholders and act as a trusted external representative of The Climate Group. They will work collaboratively across the organization to identify new opportunities to improve our stakeholder engagement, and align new activities with existing ones so as to build a seamless supporter experience.


Special Events – devising and delivering a range of unique event opportunities which support the cultivation, fundraising and stewardship objectives of The Climate Group’s Business Development and Philanthropy teams. This will include formulating event content and concepts, identifying opportunities for increasing fundraising activity from attendees and prospects, liaising with suppliers, speakers and invitees, and managing The Climate Group and external staff support in collaboration with The Climate Group’s Senior Event Manager and other colleagues.


Fundraising Outreach – acting as an important point person for fundraising in working with The Climate Group’s communications team, the post-holder will design and develop fundraising-specific outreach materials and messaging (delivered through online and offline channels) so that The Climate Group can communicate with donors and prospects in targeted, inspiring ways in support of our fundraising strategy. This will include shaping campaigns/mailings/outreach, collaborating with in-house and external designers, copywriting, data management, print and production.   


Insight and Impact – capturing, logically manipulating and analyzing data from fundraising outreach activities to track impact, evaluate success, and help make better use of data and insight to improve reporting, strengthen impact and develop our supporter experiences.


Engagement Administration – undertaking general administration of the processes for regular communication with donors and prospects, ensuring databases are kept up to date, that data is stored accurately and in compliance with Data Protection legislations and Institute of Fundraising/Fundraising Regulator guidelines, preparing and controlling budgets, and producing financial reports on activity.



About you


Essential:


  • Strong grasp of the principles of high-value fundraising, donor engagement and stewardship, ideally with experience of designing a strategic donor experience program tailored to high-value supporters and/or sponsors;

  • Ability and gravitas required to influence and develop strong relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders including VIPs, high value donors and sponsors, corporates and governments;

  • Experience of organizing fundraising, cultivation and/or stewardship events;

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills with a methodical approach to working on several tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines;

  • Experience of producing inspiring content for funders and funding prospects and/or of working closely with a communications team to do so;

  • Ability to collect, manipulate and analyze data to measure impact of activities and improve supporter experience;

  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills in English with ability to present complex information in an accessible format for major supporters;

  • A strong team player under pressure;

  • Ability to work, problem-solve and initiate solutions independently;

  • Ability to prepare and control budgets;

  • Good knowledge of data compliance regulations and best practice;

  • Exceptional attention to detail and general administrative skills;

  • Strong ICT skills and proficiency with fundraising databases/CRM systems.

 


Desirable:


  • Experience of working globally and managing international relationships

  • Good networking skills;

  • Experience of using Salesforce/Financial Force;

  • Understanding of the climate change agenda;

  • Languages other than English.

 

Location

You will be based in our London Head Office, in County Hall, which is a five-minute walk from Waterloo station.


Terms and conditions

This is a full-time permanent position. The salary for this post will be £33,000-£38,000 per annum, depending on experience. In addition to the salary, the role holder will benefit from:
